A mix of musical styles from Brazil, New York, London and Virginia plus a special feature on Lowestoft based singer/songwriter John Ward.
Two apologies
Firstly for the delay in posing this show. The good people at
Libsyn who web-host Suffolk 'n' Cool have had some awful
technical problems recently which has caused some disruption.
However, they assure me that new kit has been installed and that
service will be better than ever very soon which is good news for
everyone.
Secondly, for the state of my voice and somewhat disjointed sound
on the show - a cold /cough brought with it a need for lots of
editing to spare you some of the more unsavory moments!
Luis Claudio Santos - Os Guerreiros Da Noite
I can't really tell you a great deal about this Brazilian artist
since the website is entirely (and quite reasonably) in Portuguese.
However I would just suggest that the sound has something in common
with the French rap outfit Iam
Just on the off-chance that you are (or know) Portuguese, here's
what the website has to say:
melodias. A integracao musical sul americana surgiu do encontro do
ritmos bem dancantes.

John Ward
Having played a song of John's last week it was great to see him
perform with the formidable Mario Price in Aldeburgh, here in
Suffolk last weekend.
The two songs featured are on John's fouth album Common
Ground along with 13 other strong tracks.
The White Hart is a friendly, real music venue with little
compromise to the gentrification of pubs which seems to be almost
unstoppable. Perhaps the biggest gesture to the White Hart becoming
a gastro-pub is the fact that you can usually buy a cheese roll at
the bar!
Chris (the landlord) is passionate about his music and promotes
live artists pretty much every Saturday night all year round and
some other nights as the spring and summer get going.
The interview with John Ward included in the show covers all the important stuff and the link to John's site is still johnward.org.uk

Da Vinci's Notebook - Enormous Penis
Sadly just a sample from the one song they've posted on the Podsafe
Music Network but well worth the listen.
The group's website describes their story:
Da Vinci's Notebook made their debut at the 1994 Mid-Atlantic
Harmony Sweepstakes and came away with 3rd place. Rejoicing
followed, ending quickly when Jay moved to Scotland a month later
seeking adventure, personal growth, and chicks who spoke with
accents. Down to one tenor and three flexible baritones, the
foursome rearranged their three songs up a couple steps and
promptly won an open mike contest in Arlington. They were then
promptly signed to perform a month later and fill three hours of
music. One of the area's most unique musical endeavors, plus a
strict rehearsal schedule, was born.
Since then, the group has blossomed in Washington's vibrant local
music scene and beyond. A win at the 1996 Mid-Atlantic Harmony
Sweepstakes landed them prominently on the pages of the Washington
Post (which described them as "exuberance...crashing off the
walls!"), then on a feature on NBC's Today Show, and finally as
Artists-in-Residence at the John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts. Since then, the guys have been featured in
specials on Comedy Central and PBS, and spent time as the "house
band" on Washington radio's WBIG-FM. They are regular guests on the
nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show, which has introduced
them to fantastic numbers of wacky people across the country. Their
website tells even more at www.davincisnotebook.com
